New Project

Operation: Coffee table is in full effect!

Landon and I have been on the hunt for a coffe table and end tables for our living room. They are actually the last peices of furniture we need to complete our living room. Looking at differenct furniture stores was getting old. Too many over priced tables that we didnt love. So after some researching (done by Landon) we decided to make our own coffee table.

First step was to order the wood. We ordered a large pine slab from Rare Earth Hardwoods- They're based out of Michigan. The wood itself was 125.00, plus an additional shipping charge of 40.00.

Next, we chipped off the bark around the edges.

And did 3 rounds of sanding.  1st round we used the hardest grain, 100, then we went down 150, then lastly 200.

Then we mixed Denatured Alcohol and Sealer to make a wood conditioner.

And we made a thin coat on the wood itself, and the legs.

That is as far as we have gotten. Today our gel stain will be ocming in so we can stain it the dark kona color we would like.

Ill keep you all updated :)
